It's hard to believe that it's been almost a year since I started this thread but hey -- time flies, right?
Anyway, who's up for some old-style LAN carnage?!? SC2 hits at the end of the month, so I'm thinking that early August would be the perfect time for a LAN.

2) SC2 looks cool. I preordered the CE for the beta key and realized I liked playing with people I didn't know about as much as I always did, which is to say I don't. We should plan an early August LAN around the SC2 release. Who's with me? 3) I have a couple of bouts with pilonidal cysts, including a surgery much like Joe and Neil had back in the day a few weeks ago. I knew it sucked then, and it is even worse first hand. Similar but not quite the same. Either way, they SUUUUUCK. 4) Between my pilonidal stuff and Kimberley's health adventure (she had an aneurysm, lots of strum and drang but in the end she was and is completely ok, inclusing an awesome scar from the brain surgery) I was actually off work for about a month. Saving all that vacation paid off, somewhat. Dude that sucks. But hey, Timothy Zahn rules! 5)Same job, same tireless BS of constant neverending nonstop stuff blowing up and us putting it back together. Someday I hope to find a job that is more like a job and less like an action movie in IT form or a form of punishment in purgatory, where I can start to have a life on a regular basis. Wow...it's like you're me or something. - Neil

I NEVER check this board anymore, but thought about just tonight...wow. Seems like you've had a go of it there Dean. I hope things get better for you man.
Lee, you get moved into the house in Greenway 2? It's across the street from one of my partners in the detective office.
I'm doing well. I'm still at Orange Police, and have been in the detective division for about 1 1/2 years. Like anything in this job, it has good and bad points, but I like it most of the time. I most recently worked on the McNamara Capital Murder case. It was very intense and a tremendous amount of work, but very rewarding thus far. On that note, if you ever get the opportunity to fly in a police helicopter to take aerial photographs with the side door open - do it, it's way too cool!
On the work and computers end, I was trying to get into computer forensics when I first got into the division I'm in now. I got to go to a great cell phone school and a child porn investigation class in the process. I then got told that my job was to "be a police officer" and not a computer technician. So, I basically help out the guys I work with getting surveillance video and what-not from stores for cases, but nothing on the mainstream. They hired a guy to pay him a great deal of money that is supposed to do all the forensic and cell phone work. It won't work that way, but it's a much longer story than any of you would want to hear.
Being that I don't post or read here often anymore, I don't know how many here knew I had surgery about a year ago. I think most do from facebook, but those that don't, I had gastric bypass surgery in August last year. I think it was one of the best things I have done for myself in a long time. I've lost about 107 pounds to date, and feel like a different person. I'm still ashamed at myself that I let myself get to a point where I pretty much "needed" a surgery to get me on track, but I feel great about my decision. I've had no real complications.
I also moved to Starks, Louisiana about 6 months ago. My mother-in-law is practically giving us her house with 10 acres. We're going to pay her what she owes on it, which isn't too much. There's quite a bit of work needed on the pasture of the land (about 7 acres) as they let it grow up the last 5-7 years, so that keeps me busy when I'm not working all the time.
As the norm for me over the years, I don't really game much anymore. I last played Call of Duty Modern Warfare (the first one, not 2) on the 360. My son plays the 360 much much more than me - he's playing a lot of Transformers 2 right now. It's amazing how much he can do with a game at 6 years old.
I'll try to check back here soon to see if anyone else catches the topic on here. It's good to hear from old friends for sure.

I also try to spend as little time as possible on Facebook, and I don't have a twitter account. Never did.
SC2 should be some entertainment.
I don't really play WoW, but I log in sometimes.
I moved to Orange.
I understand about work, and I'll say that corporate environment IT will always be as you say. It's different working for a small employer, it's got good and bad with it. It's about as close as I want to get to working for myself, without most of the financial jeopardy. I don't miss working for the Hospital for sure.
Hope everything is doing well with everyone else.

Not that anyone reads this anymore but if anyone does:
1) I have spent a couple of months playing LOTRO. I am actually having a good time with it, mostly because the crafting is cool and the world is vast and cohesive. It satisfies my exploring/collecting/creating itch in game form.
2) SC2 looks cool. I preordered the CE for the beta key and realized I liked playing with people I didn't know about as much as I always did, which is to say I don't.
3) I have a couple of bouts with pilonidal cysts, including a surgery much like Joe and Neil had back in the day a few weeks ago. I knew it sucked then, and it is even worse first hand.
5)Same job, same tireless BS of constant neverending nonstop stuff blowing up and us putting it back together. Someday I hope to find a job that is more like a job and less like an action movie in IT form or a form of punishment in purgatory, where I can start to have a life on a regular basis.
So what is going on with everyone else? I guess with Facebook/Twitter I should know but honestly I try to spend as little time as possible on there.
